GMAT - Graduate Management Admission Test

Advance educational credentials are growing day by day, The important career path chosen by many of the students is through MBA. The GMAT has become one of the crucial hurdles in the lives of millions of students. Student's performance on the GMAT plays a major role in determining whether or not he shall be able to attend Business School of choice.
The GMAT stand for Graduate Management Admission Test, which is standardized exam given at various locations in the United States and Canada and around the world. Throughout North America and many international locations, the GMAT is administered only via computer. In those international locations where an extensive network of computers has not yet been established, the GMAT is offered either at temporary computer-based testing centers on a limited schedule or as a paper-based test (given once or twice a year) at local testing centers. GMAT is the most popular standardized test, Thousands of graduate management programs around the world use the GMAT for the evaluation of prospect student for admission in business studies (MBA and BBA).

GMAC - Graduate Management Admission Council is responsible for all matters of GMAT. GMAC began to operate in 1953, as an association of nine top business schools. Its goal was to develop a standardized test to help business schools select suitable candidates for MBA classes. It itrodeced GMAT (Graduate Management Admission Test). More than 200,000 people take GMAT round the year. More than 1500 business schools make their evaluation criteria based on GMAT.

Unlike most standardized tests, the GMAT is not typically administered in a paper-and-pencil format. The vast majority of students can take the GMAT only on computer, in the form of a computer-adaptive test, or CAT for short.
Spend enough time preparing that you know where your strengths and weaknesses lie. You know you're going to face geometry questions in the Quantitative section; are you strong with triangles and quadrilaterals, but weak with circles? Having this kind of understanding can help you decide where to focus your energies. Why spend 8 minutes stressing out over a question when there's a good chance you'll get it wrong, no matter what? The only way you'll be able to use your time wisely on test day is to know your abilities beforehand.
The Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT) is a worldwide accepted standardized assessment—delivered in English—that helps business schools assess the qualifications of applicants for advanced study in business and management. Business Schools use the test as one predictor of academic performance in an MBA program or in other graduate management programs.
If you want to have admission to an MBA program, chances are you’ll need to take the GMAT. About two-thirds of the 1,300+ graduate business schools around the world require GMAT scores for admission. Schools that do not require GMAT scores nevertheless welcome GMAT scores to help access an applicant’s qualifications.
NOTE:
Schools that do not require GMAT scores generally have relatively lenient admission standards and/or are located outside of the United States.
The use of the computer-adaptive testing technology makes it difficult to predict your actual GMAT score based on your performance on a paper-and-pencil practice test. We have tried, however, to develop a scoring table that provides a general ideal of your performance at this point in your preparation. To predict your score on the practice tests you take during preparation, count the correct answers in each section and find that number in the left column of the charts below. The corresponding number in the right column represents an approximation of your GMAT test score.
By its very nature, the GMAT test is inherently random. It selects questions for you to answer from a large database, based on whether or not you answered the previous questions correctly. It does this to determine the degree of difficulty within which you will be most challenged. The GMAT test also relies on a complex algorithm to determine which type of question to ask next. For example, on the quantitative section of the test, you might be asked a problem solving question, followed by a data sufficiency problem, followed by two more problem solving questions. You can count on seeing groups of questions randomly interspersed
Validity refers to how well the GMAT exam does what it is intended to do—predict students’ academic performance in the core courses of a graduate management or business program.
The GMAT is the first and only test designed to predict student performance in business school, and it does so more reliably than any other known measure, including the Graduate Record Examination (GRE) and other standardized assessments.
For 50 years, G MAC has maintained the reputation of the GMAT exam as the best assessment for business school admissions by continually studying the performance of test scores as a predictor of academic performance to ensure the test’s validity.
